School Programs @ Parkwood Playschool

Parkwood Playschool has adapted world-class learning programs that help your kids maximize their potential and accelerate their learning curve in Math, Music, and Language.

Parkwood Playschool utilizes the Work Sampling System® for performance assessment. The Work Sampling System (WSS) is a valid researched based assessment that makes it easier for teachers to systematically document children’s skills, knowledge, behavior, and academic accomplishments. As a result, teachers can better understand and communicate what students are learning, what they are beginning to master, and what they still need to work on. It also provides clear criteria and easy-to-use tools for evaluation. Teachers collect information about student work, compare it to grade-specific guidelines, and use the results to individualize instruction.

Singapore Math

Singapore Math is a learning program developed in Singapore that has been adapted to various school curricula worldwide. In the Singapore Math program, children learn an understanding of the way mathematical processes work and are taught to use new skills immediately in the solving of problems.

The Earlybird Kindergarten Mathematics series features books that contain a wide range of activities designed to introduce children to some of the basic math concepts including color, shape, size, number, length, weight, capacity, time, money, and graphs. The books also include simple instructions and short notes for parents and teachers on how to introduce the concepts to the students. Illustrations for the students are simple, colorful and fun. This approach will help students develop a positive competence in math leading to lifelong mastery and confidence in that subject.
